Embryo Chapter 1

Introduction

It was going to just be an expedition to another unknown planet, that's what was said, it was just going to be about two weeks on an unknown planet with no known significant life is what they said...it was going to be easy and no one would get hurt is what they said....sure they always say that kind of stuff before any expedition to an unknown alien world. But the truth is that it's never simple, what's more the big people who sent Miss Jennifer and her team to the unknown world I code named Embry-5 either were too dumb to expect us to find what we found or just gave us the usual garbage before we took off. I am A.I ship system 774.0 but I was given the name Rob by Miss Jennifer and her team as we went to about three worlds now on our missions to find life, but we never expected or imagined (well maybe I have  imagined) we'd run into the kind of life forms which we did, it was scary to put it in simple terms.

I'll gladly explain what happened to Miss Jennifer and her team while we set off to learn what we could about Embry-5, I think I'll start the mostly tragic but completely scary story of the series of events I cataloged as EMBRYO at the beginning when we first set off for the distant planet where an unexpected horror was discovered.


Chapter 1

The mission

It started as a normal day for the zoologist Jennifer and her team of explorers, they were spending most of their time talking about the discoveries they made on a planet code named Paradise-12 which was more or less a perfect world they discovered and on that mission they didn't have any fatalities or near deaths which wasn't to common for most planet expedition teams sent out by the G.L.P.E (Galactic Livable Planet Explorers) and the main reason Paradise-12 was given its name was because it was a perfect world to life on with no confirmed virus, dangerous predators or dangerous air and this was now the third planet classified as a Perfect Planet that had been discovered in the past 50 years.

Given how new Jennifer and her team were and so far went on two expeditions to alien worlds and trained for about half their lives (give or take) to be a part of the expedition project. Jennifer was with her assistant Jenna Asha, she was performing a autopsy on a blue worm-like creature with six legs.
"This is a fine specimen, the creature appears to have a venomous spine, much like a lionfish because of the venom that is coming out of them." Jennifer said she carefully moves the spines with a pair of dissection scissors, scrapes the venom to a test tube for further research.
Her team was all of a sudden called in by the head of G.L.P.E for a new expedition. Once Jennifer and her team arrived to the meeting room were the head of G.L.P.E along with a General of the Space Marines and the board of directors were ready to explain the new mission to Jennifer and her team.

"I'm glad you could make it Miss Jennifer" the president of the company said.

"I hope you had a good reason for calling me away from my work with the latest alien species we've brought to our facilities" Jennifer said as she crossed her arms and sat in a chair with the rest of her team.

"The president of the company always has a good reason Miss Jennifer" a woman on the board said sharply.

"Mr. President you may begin" a man on the board said.

"Thank you Mr. Samson" the president said as he began "About twenty five hours ago one of our satellites detected a planet we believe can sustain life as we know it, all we know of the planet is that it has oxygen, water, some small plant life and.........well from what we can tell they appear to be ruins of an alien civilization we've never seen or made contact with" the president said as he showed a hologram of the planet which everyone looked at with interest.

"Do you think it's possible the people who lived on the planet are all dead sir?" Ben Thomas asked.

"From what we can tell there is no known life other then plants on the unknown planet, after the major success of your last mission I personally am impressed with your actions. So I'd like for you to go along with a Space Marine team and spend at the least two weeks on the planet in order to determined rather anything significant still lives on the planet which we highly doubt but nevertheless you should have an easy time on this planet with nothing but the weather to worry about" the president explained.

"Who are we going to work with this time?" Sofia Carter asked.

"This time around miss, my Captain Barbara Allyson and her team of highly trained Space Marines will accompany you on this mission" the Space Marine General said in a serious tone.

"Is it going to be that dangerous?" Jennifer asked somewhat sarcastically.

"Its only precautions that are necessary Miss Jennifer to make sure you and your team are safe" the president explained.

"Very well then.....I hope we get everything ready for this expedition by next week, because I think we'll need a lot of supplies for a trip this far from Earth" Jennifer said as she looked at her team.

"We'll get your ship and supplies ready Miss Jennifer, the Space Marines will handle themselves" a member of the board explained.

"Fine by me" Jennifer said as the meeting came to a close and everyone got ready to get Jennifer and her teams personal ship ready for the long mission into deep space.

"All of a sudden they gotten the Space Marines to go with us? We've never had real danger so why now." Sofia asked while looking at a holographic map of Paradise-12.

"Sofia, remember that one time you've almost fell off on the edge of the canyon on Olympus-5, you could have been killed, I know you're clumsy but you really need to be more careful." Jennifer said.

"Of course I.." Sofia trips and fell face flat on the floor. "Bloody hell, you're right I should be more careful." Sofia was struggling to get up, Jennifer smiled and helps her get back up. "Yeah, come one let's not waste any time." Jennifer said, both her and Sofia walking in the hallway getting ready for the exploration of the unknown planet.
